A District Cat Club show was held at the Cowley Conservative Club in 1972.
It was a successful day for the cats of Oxfordshire as three felines from the county took home prizes from the event.
The award for best long-haired cat was won by Mitch, who belonged to Mr PS Colvill of Charlbury.
Sacha the kitten, from Cowley, was awarded the short-hair prize, much to owner Mrs Archer's delight.
A new trophy for the year, the Caroline and Octavia Cup for Outstanding Veteran, went to Mrs Morris's cat from Oxford.
Sadly Jock, pictured, did not win any prizes but was still praised by 10-year-old owner Sally Hawthorn.
