AN 18-YEAR-OLD who sexually assaulted a woman has been handed a community penalty.

Sonny Weir, of Southam Road, Banbury, was also found guilty of a separate offence of assaulting a woman thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Despite denying the two counts against him he was convicted at Oxford Magistrates' Court and sentenced for the offences on Wednesday.

Prosecutors said that the two assaults took place in the Bicester area in September last year.

Weir 'intentionally touched' a woman sexually when she did not consent.

The teenager also assaulted a woman, an attack which occasioned her actual bodily harm.

The victim of the sex assault cannot be named for legal reasons.

For the offences Weir was made subject to a community order to include an electronically monitored curfew which will be in effect overnight and in place for three months.

He must also take part in a drug rehabilitation requirement programme for nine months and complete a total of 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days as required by a responsible officer.

Weir was also ordered to pay compensation of £1,000.
