THERE have been almost 500 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Oxford, according the latest Public Health England figures.

Now broken down by district and city councils, the data, measured as of 9am, shows where Oxfordshire's 1,652 positive tests have been recorded.

Oxford has the most cases, with 490, South Oxfordshire has 301, Vale of White Horse 264, West Oxfordshire 269 and Cherwell 328.

Across the UK there have been 206,715 confirmed cases.

A further 383 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus have died in England's hospitals bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths there to 22,432.

Patients were aged between 28 and 100 years old, with 41 of the 383 patients (aged between 28 and 96 years old) having no known underlying health condition.

The NHS England figures, measured as of 5pm on Wednesday, recorded no new deaths of patients at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, meaning the total remains at 151.

The trust runs the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Banbury’s Horton General Hospital.

There have also been 21 patient coronavirus deaths at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the county’s community hospitals.

As the trust also manages services outside Oxfordshire it is not possible to confirm how many deaths were in the county.

There have now been 30,615 confirmed Covid-19 deaths in the UK, with another 539 recorded today.
