FURTHER changes to Oxford Tube coach services between Oxford and London have been introduced to help combat the worsening coronavirus crisis.

The measures that reflect the Government’s restrictions on non-essential travel and advice around social distancing, are set to affect services from today.

Oxford Tube said the changes had been ‘carefully’ managed and were designed to ensure that key services were maintained, where possible.

They include:

First departing coach will leave Gloucester Green at 03.15 and last at 20.15

First departing coach will leave London Victoria at 05.45 and last at 22.45

There will be an hourly service running between Oxford and London

Chris Coleman, managing director at Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, which manages the Oxford Tube, said: “The temporary reduced services that we are offering will be closely monitored and, should the demand change, we are in a position to act quickly.

“We are working incredibly hard to support the national effort to tackle the current challenging situation.

“We know that our services play a vital role in keeping the country running and ensuring key sector personnel get to work.”

Since the impact of the coronavirus in the UK, Stagecoach assured it had implemented additional hygiene measures to protect passengers on its bus and coach fleet, frontline workers and office-based staff.

In addition to rigorous cleaning regimes, there has also been more frequent cleaning on buses, such as hand poles and grab rails.
