THOUSANDS of people across Oxfordshire stopped to give the NHS a massive round applause this evening.

At 8pm, the national Clap for our Carers event encouraged everyone to thank doctors, nurses and other front line staff for their tireless work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign's post on social media was shared millions of times, and the people of Oxfordshire certainly answered the call.

Organisers said on their website the goal was: "To get the UK to clap for all of the NHS staff working on the front line, including doctors, nurses, GPs, pharmacists and EVERYONE related to caring for our nation.

"I might not have included your title by name, sorry if that has happened. Just know that we are really grateful for all of your hard work!"
