CHILDREN from an Oxford school bashed drums and clapped their hands at an inclusive charity concert.

More than 40 pupils at Mabel Prichard School made music with help from musicians at Jessie's Fund.

The charity helps children with special needs or illnesses to communicate using the power of music.

Pupils gathered for the concert on Thursday, at the special school's upper site next to The Oxford Academy.

Mabel Prichard's head Lucy Wawrzyniak, said: "We have a lot of talented children in this school and you never know who might become a famous singer or drummer!

"Our students were so excited about this opportunity."

Lesley Schatzberger, director of Jessie’s Fund, said: "We also aim to show that almost every subject can be taught effectively through music."

The charity was established in 1995 with the aim of helping children in hospices with serious and life-limiting illnesses to use music therapeutically.
