FLYING debris, road closures and damage to buildings are expected tomorrow as Storm Ciara hits Oxfordshire.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for strong winds, with gusts of up to 80mph possible and 60mph likely.

Heavy rain is also expected throughout the county on Sunday.

The amber alert will be in place between 8am and 9pm, with the Met Office warning Storm Ciara will bring 'very strong winds' and that disruption to travel was likely.

The forecaster said to expect: "Flying debris could lead to injuries or danger to life.

"Some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs expected."

It added: "Longer journey times and cancellations, as road, rail, air and ferry services affected.

"Some roads and bridges closed, power cuts with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage."

There is also a lower yellow wind warning covering the whole UK between throughout Sunday.
