MORE than 100 members of the Scouts and Girl Guides are preparing for the 62nd Oxfordshire Gang Show.

The theatre show will combine traditional Scout and Guide songs with a mixture of musical genres.

The tradition of the Gang Show was begun in 1932 by the actor and producer Ralph Reader, who put on a production to raise money for a new swimming pool, and since then Gang Shows have been popular across the world.

Show director Anthony Morris said: “It’s a lot of hard work, for the young people and of course for the massive team of volunteers who help put it on each year, but it’s worth it. The Scouts and Girlguiding [communities] exist to give young people opportunities to learn new skills and grow, to have experiences that they’ll remember all of their lives, and to have fun and make lasting friendships, and the Gang Show does all of those things.”
