AT LEAST three vehicles crashed on the A34 near Bicester this morning, causing major tailbacks.

One northbound lane was closed after the collision at Weston on the Green this morning, near the Wendlebury Interchange, and emergency services were on the scene.

Highways England warned motorists of 30-minute delays, but the road has since cleared.

Queues were stretching back for five miles all the way to Oxford Parkway at 10am.

One driver, who passed on the southbound side at about 9.30am, said three cars had smashed together and there appeared to be another three cars around that had been less obviously damaged.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said an off-duty member of staff stopped at the scene of the crash, which happened at 8am, and informed the control room that there was just one patient with a minor injury.

The person injured made their own way to hospital and an ambulance was not required.

Thames Valley Fire Control room had informed SCAS of the collision.
