BRITISH Rail moved to defuse criticism of temporary parking arrangements at Oxford Station in February 1989.
The message to motorists was: "Please bear with us we're doing our best."
Parking was disrupted until 'well into 1990', while old buildings were replaced with the new complex.

A 20-minute short-stay area was introduced, but the old setting down and collecting area next to the station building has gone.
BR came under fire from city councillor John Tanner who described the new arrangements as "awful".
Long-stay motorists were able to dodge fees by driving out through the short-stay area.
