A PERSON has died after being involved in a crash with a lorry on the M4 this morning (Tuesday, November 19).

Officers from Thames Valley Police’s Serious Collisions Investigations Unit are investigating the fatal collision, which occurred on the M4 between junctions 5 and 6 westbound this morning at around 3.45am.

The heavy goods vehicle was in collision with a pedestrian between the hard shoulder and lane one. Police have since confirmed the pedestrian died following the crash.

The M4 remains closed at this time between junctions 5 and 6 while investigations continue, and traffic is backed up towards Bracknell and Wokingham.

Anybody who witnessed the collision are asked to call 101, quoting URN 91 (19/11).

The victim is yet to be identified and work is ongoing to do so and notify next of kin.

Investigating officer PC Jim Lovell of the Serious Collisions Investigations Unit based at Three Mile Cross, said: “This was a tragic collision that has resulted in the death of a man.

“As yet, we have been unable to ascertain his identity and are working to clarify this and inform his next of kin.

“I believe the driving conditions at the time were foggy and visibility was poor.

“I am appealing to anybody that was driving in the area at the time, who believe that they witnessed this collision, to make contact with police.

“I am also asking anybody who may have dash-cam and were driving in the area between 3.30 and 3.45am on Tuesday morning to please check to see if it has captured anything that can assist our investigation.

“This is a tragic incident, and we are in the very early stages of the investigation.
