POLICE seized a lorry at an M40 service station after discovering the driver's licence had expired.

The driver was issued with a fine after being caught out at the Cherwell Valley Services, at Junction 10 between Bicester and Banbury.

Officers, tweeting about the penalty on Twitter today, said the vehicle was then recovered.

The force did not state when the licence had expired, nor how much the driver was made to pay.

DVLA guidance advises that anyone caught driving without a valid driving licence can face a fine of up to £1,000, and between three and six penalty points on their licence.
