AN alleged victim of child sexual exploitation spotted one of her abusers outside court nearly 20 years after her ordeal, a jury heard.

Four men are currently on trial at Oxford Crown Court accused of sexually abusing young girls across Oxford in an alleged child grooming plot.

Naim Khan, 41, of no fixed abode, Mohammed Nazir, 44, of Wood Farm Road, Oxford, Raheem Ahmed, 42, of no fixed abode, and Afzal Mohammed, 42, of Randall Street, Oxford all deny a string of charges including rape, conspiracy to rape and indecent assault.

As their trial continued today the alleged victim of the majority of the counts finished giving evidence from the witness box.

Defence barrister Pamela Brain, representing Afzal Mohammed, was the last to cross examine the woman - who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Earlier the woman claimed that Mohammed sexually abused her while at a house in Cowley.

Yesterday, jurors heard that the woman had not seen her alleged abuser until a chance encounter outside Oxford Crown Court last year.

The woman said she had been at the Oxford court for a drugs review hearing and was having a cigarette outside when she noticed Mohammed.

She agreed during cross examination that she then said to a police officer 'that's one of them there' and said it was one of another of the accused men's 'mates.'

It was put to the woman that she had 'made a mistake' in her identification of the man, an assertion she denied.

Ms Brain asked the woman: "Did you perhaps make a mistake when you told police you saw the person that had raped you all those years ago?"

She replied: "No."

Ms Brain went on: "Had you seen him at all around the Cowley Road area over the years?"

The woman answered: "I don't think so no, not really."

During re-examination with prosecutor Alan Gardner the woman said she had also struggled with drugs issues for a number of years.

She described her life since 2015 as 'chaotic' and said: "Everything just started to go really wrong."

It was around this time, jurors were told, that the woman began to appear before the courts for crimes including shoplifting and breaching court orders.

The alleged victim also accepted she had not spoken about sexual crimes in her original police statement.

She later made a series of video recorded interviews with police in which she claimed she had been plied with cannabis before being raped or sexually assaulted at parks, in cars and at homes across the city.

At court today she said of the time before making those allegations that she was 'just trying to keep it to myself and not disclose it.'

The men deny the charges and the trial continues.
