THERE will be delays to a popular rail service this weekend due to engineering works.

Rail works will take place on the line between London Marylebone and Bicester in the Haddenham and Thame Parkway area.

As a result, the line will be closed at various points and all journeys on Chiltern Railways services will be affected.

The railway company says a 'heavily amended' timetable will be in operation and journey times will be 'considerably longer' than usual.

Some late night trains on Friday will also be impacted, with the 00.20 (Saturday morning) Marylebone to Leamington Spa service terminating at Princes Risborough, and the 01.10 (Saturday morning) Marylebone to Oxford train being cancelled.

The work forms part of Britain’s Railway Upgrade Plan and includes Network Rail track improvement to increase the reliability of the rail network and preparation for high speed rail.

People will have to use a replacement bus between Princes Risborough and Bicester North and there will only be two trains per hour between Bicester Village and Oxford and one per hour from Bicester North to Banbury.

Passengers will have to travel via diverted and/or alternative routes and/or on rail replacement buses.

Chiltern Railways advises customers to allow extra time for their journey, check live travel feeds and buy tickets in advance to save time at stations and guarantee the best value fare.
