STUDENTS and staff at Oxford Brookes University will receive training from the charity Mind to further support mental health initiatives.

The charity will receive about £50,000 in funding for the project as part of a partnership between Mind and Goldman Sachs, which is providing £1.5m for mental health support at universities.

In the first partnership of its kind, the Mentally Healthy Universities programme will reach over 6,000 students and staff at 10 universities in its first two years.

Oxford Brookes already offers a wide range of wellbeing services and employs qualified staff to help support positive mental health.

Chris Tuck, deputy director of Academic and Student Administration for Student Services at Oxford Brookes, said: "Oxford Brookes is committed to supporting the mental health of its students and staff and we look forward to the opportunity to partner with Mind for this exciting new pilot programme.
