A DOG from a town in Oxfordshire has won first place at an annual cross-breed competition.

Elmo, a 12-year-old mixed breed owned by Beverley Wheeler from Bicester, won the Golden Oldie Crossbreed category at Scruffts, the annual cross-breed competition run by the Kennel Club.

He will go on to compete in the semi-final stages hosted at the world's most famous dog show, Crufts, next year.

Elmo, as well as others dogs competing, were judged on good character, good health, good personality and good temperament with people and other dogs.

Bicester Advertiser:

The Scruffts heat, which was the fourth of six to be held this year, took place last month at MediaCityUK in Salford, as part of the Family Pet Show.

It attracted over 100 cross-breeds and their owners and judges will eventually decide who will be Scruffts Family Crossbreed Dog of the Year.
