A ROAD just across the Oxfordshire border was closed this morning after a 'serious' crash.
The A43 northbound was shut near Brackley, north of Bicester, between the A421 roundabout and the A422.

It has since reopened but one lane remains closed, Highways England said.

A Northamptonshire police officer described the collision as 'serious' and urged people to avoid the area.
A43 evenly roundabout Northbound towards Brackley / Silverstone currently closed due to a serious collision. Please avoid the area. @HighwaysEMIDS @Heart4CNews @BBCNorthampton

Traffic was heavy in the area and a diversion was in place, but delays were beginning to ease by 11.30am.

The road is one of the most direct routes for people travelling from parts of Oxfordshire to the popular Silverstone Classic event today.

Event organisers urged people to divert at the height of the disruption.

It is thought the crash happened at about 8.30am this morning.
