ROADWORKS will start next Monday on the A41 Oxford Road south of Bicester town centre as part of the new Kingsmere Shopping Park.

The works are to deliver capacity improvements along the A41 on the approach to the main roundabout adjacent to Bicester Village.

A spokesperson for Consolidated Property Group, the developers of the Bicester Shopping Park, said: “The works are required as part of the planning permission for the new Shopping Park to enhance vehicular access to Kingsmere and local traffic flows. Importantly, the works will future proof the A41 Oxford Road approaching the roundabout which in its current layout would reach capacity within the next couple of years.

“The works are expected to last until mid-December with lane restrictions varying throughout this time. Obviously we will be keeping all the necessary authorities and local stakeholders informed about lane closures and progress over this period, working to minimise any inconvenience to motorists."

The first phase of works will last for two weeks with works focusing on the central reservation northbound towards Bicester and the existing outside lane will be substantially closed to accommodate the workforce.

However, traffic exiting Pioneer Way will still be able to turn right south onto the A41 and traffic travelling north will be able to turn right into Lakeview Drive for Tesco and other facilities.

The existing pedestrian crossing at the junction of Pioneer Way and Oxford Road will be closed and pedestrians are advised to use the crossing at the junction of Oxford Road and Lakeview Drive.

Information on future phases will be issued throughout the works periods.
