A 27-year-old man died in a crash that closed part of the A420 near Faringdon yesterday, police say.

The collision occurred at about 6am, between the man's silver car and an HGV, between Faringdon and Littleworth.

He died at the scene and his next of kin has been informed.

Police did not say if anyone else was hurt in the incident.

Investigating officer PC Mark Dunne, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Three Mile Cross, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad and difficult time.

“I would also ask motorists who were in the area around the time of the collision to check their dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything that could assist us with the investigation."
