BUDDING young footballers have the chance to spend their summer holidays playing the sport, thanks to Oxford United's official charity.

Boys and girls aged four to 14 can sign up to a series of holiday football camps run by Oxford United in the Community (OUITC), starting July 29.

The courses are being held at The Oxford Academy, Crowmarsh Recreation Ground, Christopher’s Primary School, Lechlade, Hanney Recreation Ground and Cherwell School.

Chris Lowes, head of Oxford United in the Community, said: “Our summer holiday football courses are really popular and we’re recommending parents book now to avoid disappointment. The courses are structured for children to have fun and improve their skills in a nurturing and safe environment.”

Players will hone skills including passing, turning and dribbling in sessions that will usually start with warm-ups and end in mini-matches.

The camps aim to develop respect, sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork, while all coaches are FA qualified and have up to date safeguarding, first aid training and CRC checks.

Children need to bring their own kit, including shin-pads, boots and trainers, plus lunch and drinks.

OUITC is celebrating its 30th year and has launched a Dream Big fundraising campaign to help boost its work.

Courses run from 9am to 3pm, five days a week and are £75 per week, or £20 per day. You can book at officialsoccerschools.co.uk/oxfordunited
