TWO PEOPLE have died in a crash between a van and car at a Bicester roundabout.

A BMW X5 and a Renault Kangoo van crashed at the Vendee Drive roundabout in Bicester about 8.15pm yesterday.

The BMW had travelled on the A34 joining the A41 at junction 9 of the M40 before colliding with the van.

The driver and passenger in the BMW sustained minor injuries and have been discharged from hospital.

Thames Valley Police confirmed the driver and passenger in the van, a 77 year old man and 80 year old woman, died at the scene.

Next of kin have been informed.

Investigating officer Sergeant Phil Hanham of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a very serious incident which has sadly resulted in the death of two people.

“We would like to speak to anyone who either witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles before this incident.

“We would also like any drivers or cyclists in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to check if these vehicles are present to assist with the investigation.”

The crash happened on the roundabout just outside the Bicester Park and Ride and buses were unable to serve the site last night after a crash.

The A41 was closed by emergency services outside the park and ride on all approaches to the roundabout.

According to drivers the road was closed for a number of hours after it happened.

It comes less than a year after a driver died in a fatal crash on the same stretch of road in August 2018.

Twenty-nine-year-old Thomas Nelson, from Cholsey, near Wallingford, died at the scene when his BMW careered off the busy dual carriageway and smashed into a tree on August 10.
