A PREDATOR who spent the past week on trial for raping a teenager is already serving a life sentence for filming himself abusing a two-year-old, it was revealed today.

Daniel Kilbee, formerly of Sutton Courtenay, was this afternoon found guilty of grooming the teenager before leading her to an Oxford house where she was gang raped.

It comes after a trial at Oxford Crown Court in which the 37-year-old was accused of subjecting his victim - who cannot be named for legal reasons - to the ordeal in order to pay for a drugs debt.

After a week-long trial Kilbee was unanimously found guilty of four counts of rape, one of assault by penetration and sexual assault.

The jury returned their verdict after deliberating for a total of eight hours and 57 minutes.

During the trial, the court heard the ‘grooming’ started around 2011 or 2012 when Kilbee was about 30 years old.

The crown said he ‘gradually groomed his victim by showering her with compliments’, and ‘making efforts to be alone with her such as giving her lifts in his van’.

Jurors were told that this grooming culminated in the one incident when Kilbee drove his victim to an unknown address near Cowley Road, and subjected her to the rapes.

It is at this address where Kilbee, who opted not to attend court yesterday, had sexually abused and raped the girl with another unidentified male.

The court heard how the victim was forced to perform a sex act, before both men took turns to rape her, and then both men raped her at the same time.

Prosecutors also said she was then ‘threatened’ and told not to tell anybody what had happened before Kilbee again groped her while at his home.

Throughout the trial, Kilbee denied the claims and said the accusations were a bid to gain financial compensation for the victim.

He had admitted the pair would drive round in his van together, but only as friends, and denied ever taking her to Oxford, where the rape took place.

When asked during the trial what he thought when he first heard the allegations he said he was ‘absolutely gobsmacked’.

Jurors had been made aware that Kilbee had some previous convictions of sexual offences, some involving teenage girls.

However yesterday, after the verdict had been delivered, presiding judge Peter Ross revealed that these offences also including one against a child aged about two or three in which Kilbee also filmed himself in the act.

He is currently serving a life sentence for this conviction.

Judge Ross said it is due to this current on-going life sentence that further sentencing becomes more complicated and as such has planned to sentence the defendant during a one-day court hearing later this year.
