A RALLYING cry has gone out for residents to dig deep and dig out the handbags that they no longer use.

The shout-out comes from the children and staff of Begbroke Playgroup, near Kidlington, who are calling for help.

The group are fundraising to improve facilities at the playgroup and in doing so need as many handbags as possible.

Scores of handbags are hoped to be the winning recipe for the groups upcoming fundraiser at Woodstock Razzmatazz on June 8.

Before then the school is appealing to everyone across the county to clear out their closets and find all the handbags which they no longer use and donate them to the cause.

Students and staff will be flogging the new and second-hand handbags at the Razzmatazz boot sale in a bid to raise money towards a new 'outside education classroom.'

Children, from age two years old to five years old, at the playgroup have already got on board with a host of donations being dropped off.

But organisers are looking for as many handbags as possible to help make the fundraiser a success, support improvements at the playgroup based in Begbroke Lane.

In a post on the Begbroke Playgroup Facebook page said donations can be dropped off at Begbroke Playgroup, William Fletcher Primary School in Yarnton or Woodstock CE Primary School in Woodstock ahead of the Razzmatazz on June 8.

The 'all-around town table top sale' will be held right across the top with lots of shops, cafes, museums, restaurants and hotels getting involved.
