A BREAKDOWN caused delays on the A420 near Oxford.

The campervan came to a halt on the westbound carriageway, just after the point where the dual carriageway becomes a single carriageway.

The passengers and another motorist who parked nearby helped to direct the traffic.

The incident caused queues stretching a few hundred yards on each side from around midday onwards.

As of 2pm, traffic was flowing smoothly both ways on the A420 near Oxford.

Elsewhere, one lane of Banbury Road in Oxford is closed for electric works, and one lane of the A44 Woodstock Road is closed at Begbroke for roadworks.
