SUNSHINE is set to brighten the bank holiday weekend in Oxfordshire, with temperatures expected to reach 20 degrees.

Balmy weather is forecast for the majority of the long weekend, and the Met Office predicts that tomorrow should be the best day in Oxford for sunny spells.

Many families will be preparing to go on holiday as the week-long school half term begins.

Those who stay in the county can expect Oxfordshire to stay dry for the majority of the week, although top temperatures could dip to 15 degrees Celsius from Monday onwards.

Referring to the national forecast, Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Chris Bulmer said: "Saturday looks to be one of the better days of the weekend with the promise of sunshine for most, whereas Sunday will be cloudier with outbreaks of rain."

An RAC survey has suggested 22 million leisure trips have been planned between today and Monday nationwide.
