AN EXTINCTION Rebellion protester from Oxford protested his innocence at a London court today.
Michael Betts, from Walton Crescent, Jericho, pleaded not guilty to wilfully obstructing a highway with an unlicensed vehicle at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The environmental protesters caused travel chaos in London last month in an effort to draw attention to the climate crisis.

45-year-old Mr Betts was charged following an incident on April 21 and will appear at the same court on July 26, after being remanded on unconditional bail.
Meanwhile, fellow protester Rowan Tilly, 61, of Percy Street, East Oxford, is due at the same court on Tuesday, May 21.
Extinction Rebellion spokeswoman Jo Hamilton said he was one of more than 150 people from Oxfordshire who participated in the organisation's demonstrations in April.
