HUNDREDS of local people joined in the fun at the family-themed opening of a new care home in Cumnor.

Chawley Grove Care Home, on Cumnor Hill, opened its doors to the community on Sunday to celebrate the launch with a host of free activities for young and old alike.

Visitors were able to enjoy live music from Acoustic Jass Dixie Band, a magician, hog roast, beer tasting from Hook Norton Brewery and wine tasting with Brightwell Vineyards.

Home manager Theresa Whitford said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came along to help us celebrate this special occasion. It’s been fantastic to meet so many new families and it’s wonderful to see young and old enjoying the day together. "

Visitors also enjoyed a guided tour around the new luxury home that features a wellbeing and beauty salon, a cinema, private dining suite and café and bar for residents and their families.

Bob Nielsen from Brightwell Vineyard said that the day was a great success.

He said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support the launch of Chawley Grove and it’s been wonderful to see so many friendly people here today.

“It’s nice to see a community-minded company focussed on building long term relationships and we wish them every success.”
