IT might be spring, but winter is coming!

After what’s seemed like forever, the final season of Game of Thrones airs tonight.

It’s been two years since we last saw Jon Snow et al, but the Long Night is almost over (okay, we’ll stop with the puns now).

Season 8 airs in the USA on HBO at 9pm eastern time and will be broadcast simultaneously on Sky Atlantic in the early hours in the UK.

But if you’ve got work on Monday morning, don’t worry – it will be repeated at 9pm. Just avoid Twitter all day, in case you see spoilers.

‘But I can’t remember what’s happening in GoT!’ we hear you cry (and we also hear you – it’s been two years and *a lot* went down in Season 7). If you need a refresh, Sky has an hour-long catch up you can download and watch this weekend.

There are just SIX episodes in this series (the shortest ever), but each episode will be up to 80 minutes long. That’s practically movie length! HBO CEO Richard Plepler said every episode ‘feels cinematic’.

The first episode will be the shortest length at 54 minutes, while the penultimate episode and the finale will last 80 minutes long.

The final episode (say it ain't so!) will air on May 19.

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

So far we've had two tantalising trailers for Season 8 - but they don't give much away.

The end of Season 7 was building up towards a huge battle, and now the Night Walkers have a zombie dragon (terrifying).

We don't know what the ending will be (guaranteed some characters will get killed off, it's Game of Thrones after all!).

The cast have remained tight-lippd but Liam Cunningham, who plays Lord Davos, says it will be 'bittersweet'.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, says she thinks the ending will 'divide' fans.

"I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon," she said.

Not enough Game of Thrones for you? Go behind the scenes at a giant new GoT exhibition.

There will also be a documentary airing in a 'making of' style after Season 8 ends.

And fear not - show bosses clearly recognise a cash cow when they see one - a spin-off series is reportedly in the offing!
