WANTAGE MP Ed Vaizey has a new part-time job on top of his parliamentary duties – which he’ll receive £5,000 a month for.

Mr Vaizey, who has represented the seat since 2005, will be paid the money to work for 16 hours a month by a software firm.

His latest job was declared in MPs’ financial interests for the period of March 19 and April 1.

From March 1 until further notice, he agreed to work as a member for FTI Consulting’s Technology Media and Telecommunications Advisory Board, based in London.

He also visited Florence, Italy on March 17 and 18 to speak at a conference organised by New York University’s Center for European and Mediterranean Studies.

NYU paid for his flights, which cost £792, and his accommodation, which was worth about £300.

He was also given two tickets to the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, held on February 24. They were worth a total of £528 and given to Mr Vaizey by the Premier League.

Mr Vaizey also receives £2,500 a month plus VAT for eight hours' work a month for Digital Theatre.com. He receives a monthly retainer of £6,333 plus VAT as a consultant to LionTree LLC, a New York-based company.

He provides analysis of European telecom, media and technology sectors in that role for 20 hours a month.

However, a previous role with NEC Europe which he received £24,000 a year for four hours' work a month has ended.

Mr Vaizey also has unpaid roles for the National Youth Theatre, BritDoc Charitable Trust and the london Festival of Architecture.

Documents also show an Abingdon company paid £2,000 for a table at a Labour MP's fundraiser.

Trust Reservations, which is based in Merchant House, East St Helen Street, in Abingdon gave the money to Jeremy Corbyn ally Dan Carden. He represents the Liverpool Walton constituency.
