CLIMATE change activists again welcomed councillors with a colourful collection of banners as they arrived for a county council meeting.
Members of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, Extinction Rebellion and others from Labour and Green parties gathered outside County Hall yesterday morning.
Councillors voted on the Oxford-Cambridge expressway and climate change later.
Nell Davies-Small, a 16-year-old student from West Oxfordshire, addressed the council on climate change and received a standing ovation from Liberal Democrat and Labour councillors.
She said: “Climate change isn’t just science – it’s society.”
Ms Davies-Small attacked Theresa May for not supporting schoolchildren who walked out of classes protesting climate change over recent months.
She added: "Why did the prime minister – a figure who is supposed to inspire young people – come out and criticise them for marching for something they believe in?"
