SOME unpopular parking changes will be introduced in Oxford after the county council gave them the go-ahead yesterday.

In the council’s Zone 1 area, from Sunday to Friday between 8am and 6.30pm, you’ll need to pay:

£4 for up to an hour

And £6 for up to two hours.

That will affect Beaumont Street, Broad Street, Wellington Square, Blackhall Road, Cromwell Street, Keble Road, King Edward Street, Longwall Street, Merton Street, Museum Road, Parks Road, St Giles’, Mansfield Road, Savile Road and Woodstock Road.

A new evening rate, between 6.30pm and 10pm, will cost £4.

On Saturdays between 8am and 6.30pm, you’ll have to pay:

£4.50 for up to an hour’s parking

And £7.30 for up to two hours

Evening rates between 6.30pm and 10pm will still cost £4.50.

In less central parts, you’ll still be charged.

The council's Zone 2 includes Great Clarendon Street, Walton Street, Norham Gardens, Norham Road, Benson Place, Bradmore Road, Crick Road and Fyfield Road.

Between 8am and 6.30pm between Monday and Saturday, you’ll need to pay:

£3 for up to an hour

And £4 for up to three hours’ parking.

Any stay between 6.30pm and 10pm will cost £3.

On Sundays, all parking will cost £3.

In Hythe Bridge Street, a special tariff will be set. Between Monday and Saturday evenings from 6.30pm until 10pm, any stay will cost £3.
