VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help catch speeding motorists in Cowley this weekend.

More than 30 motorists received warning letters from police last month following checks in Beauchamp Lane, Bartholomew Road and Hollow Way.

On Saturday, two more will take place in the area.

The first is at 11am outside St Christopher’s Primary School, Temple Road.

The other will be at midday at the top of the hill on Crescent Road, by Crescent Close.

City councillor David Henwood, who helps organise the speed watch checks with police, said: "We are now getting more organised, with more and more volunteers stepping forward to get involved.

"The outcome of this community involvement will translate to more speed checks across Cowley, and a safer community for all."

Councillor Lubna Arshad, who represents Cowley Marsh, added speeding motorists was one of the major concerns she heard from residents.

She said: "We need as many people as possible getting involved so we can do more of these checks, not just residents from Cowley Marsh but further away as well. All are welcome."
