POLICE have swooped at a property in Reading today in connection with an East Oxford murder investigation.

Officers descended on the property in Kennet Walk at lunchtime with Thames Valley Police confirming the operation is linked to the fatal stabbing of Luciano Dos Santos Almeida, who was attacked on Southfield Road on February 27.

Four men have been charged with murder, while a 42-year-old man from Oxford was this morning arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

As the investigation moved to East Reading today, a forensic team could be seen in the back garden of the property in Kennet Walk.

A Thames Valley Spokesman would not give any further details saying only: “The police presence is in connection to an ongoing murder investigation in Southfield Road, Oxford, in which four men have been charged."

Mr Almeida, 22, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital after he was hit by a car and stabbed, but died from systemic complications due to stab wounds on March 6.

The man arrested this morning remains in police custody.

Michael Yemane, 20, of South Bridge Row, Oxford, Welid Solomon, 25, of Field Avenue, Oxford, Sasan Mohammed Khalid, 19, of no fixed abode, and Safeen Abdullah Karimi, 27, of Hode Garth, Thame have all been charged with murder and appeared in court on March 11.

They did not apply for bail and were all remanded in custody.
