POLICE have warned drivers to protect their number plates after a set were stolen from a car overnight.

The plates were pinched from Spruce Drive, Bicester, between midnight and 9am on Saturday.

Officers are giving away special tamper-resistant screws to fix plates in place.

PCSO Louise Beaumont said: "The easiest way to change the identity of a stolen vehicle or avoid speeding tickets and parking tickets is to fit stolen number plates.

"Using security screws to attach your vehicle’s number plates makes it harder for thieves to get your number.

"Security screws are available from Bicester Police station front counter."
