THE MRI Scanner Campaign target might have been reached, but the life changing work funded by the Stars Appeal as Salisbury District Hospital’s charity doesn’t stop here.

The charity aims to raise an additional £1million every year to continue funding the many ongoing projects and services in the hospital, as well as providing a range of state-of-the-art equipment and enhancing the hospital environment further for patients and their families.

Penny Brown, chairman of the Stars Appeal fundraising committee, said: “We are very grateful to everyone for getting us to our target for the MRI Scanner Campaign so quickly and I would like to record my most sincere thanks to everyone who has so generously donated and fundraised towards this life changing project that will help so many of us in this community.

"Looking ahead it is vital that we all continue to support the Stars Appeal as we strive to continue funding our ongoing work across the hospital. Every year, we aim to raise £1million in addition to major projects.

"This year, with your help, we can continue funding ongoing projects that help hundreds of local people every day. We provide Hospital Chaplains, free Wi-Fi, cancer support, help for older people and those with dementia through companionship, social activities, foot care, music, and a child friendly environment for children in hospital along with accommodation where their parents can stay free of charge. The fundraising will also enable the purchase of advanced equipment in key areas such as Breast Cancer Surgery and the Neonatal Unit as well as funding enhancements in the patient environment across the hospital.

"The Stars Appeal is a charity that really does benefit every one of us, so please keep up your fantastic support and together we can do even more to enhance our already excellent hospital here in Salisbury – thank you.”
