PUBLIC services are preparing for an unpredictable night of weather as the snow forecast continues to change.

The ever-changing Met Office predictions had foreseen heavy snow from about 10pm tonight, which then changed to several hours of heavy snow in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

However, as of 4.30pm today, the heavier flurries had disappeared from the forecast and had been replaced with sleet at about 6pm and light snow showers from about 8pm.

Stagecoach Oxfordshire said it will send a service update tomorrow morning 'as soon as possible' to inform passengers of any service disruption.

A spokesperson said: "Ahead of the forecast snow this evening and overnight we are unable to predict how it will affect the services.

"We will assess the roads for safety and update the Stagecoachbus.com and Oxford Tube website when we know of any disruptions to our services, and will do our best to keep as many routes operating where it is safe to do so.

"We recommend that our customers check the Stagecoachbus.com and Oxfordtube.com website before travelling and allow for extra time for any delays."

Many schools have urged parents to keep an eye on their websites and on Oxfordshire County Council's school closure page in case a snow day is called for.

A yellow warning for snow and ice will remain in place in Oxfordshire until 9pm tomorrow.

In the event of snow, check our website tomorrow morning for details of any school closures and traffic disruption.
