OXFORD City Council is flushed with success after scooping yet another 'Loo of the Year' award with its partner, Oxford Direct Services (ODS).

The Council came top in the National Award - England, Local Authority category, having previously taken prizes in 2017, 2016 and 2015.

This year's award recognised the best overall 'away from home' toilets.

The awards, 'recognised nationally as the top awards for local authority toilets', aim to encourage the highest possible standards in public convenience.

Each entry is judged against criteria covering baby changing, accessibility, changing space and hygiene room facilities. All entries were subject to unannounced inspections.

Councillor Nigel Chapman, Board Member for Customer Focused Services, said: “We've long believed that investing in the city's public toilets would pay off by making visits a better experience for tourists and residents. We know that our public conveniences are among the best in the country and this recognition confirms it.

The council maintains 23 public conveniences.
