STOOD beneath the twinkling Christmas lights at the Queen Street entrance to the Westgate Centre, Billy Brunsdon's mum is a solitary figure despite being surrounded by dozens of shoppers.

This week's winning image for our 'people' theme was taken by the photographer by using long exposure to focus on his dedicated parent, who had stay still while those moving around her became a blur of colours.

Sharing the picture on the Oxford Mail Camera Club Facebook page earlier this week, Mr Brunsdon wrote he had been trying to set himself the challenge of taking a snap for our themed challenge on the week it is set.

He added: "The person shown is my mum, thanks for the length of time you had to stand still. Pretty chuffed with the outcome."

Next week's theme is architecture. A double-page spread of our favourites will appear in Friday's paper, with the winner announced the following day.
