THE PUMPKINS may be in the compost and the ghostly decor packed away for another year but we had so many impressive 'Halloween' entries this week we wanted to share a few more.

While the photographs themselves are spectacular, the creative efforts of Oxford Mail Camera Club members can be seen in every aspect of many of the images.

Jo Sainz shared a picture of a one of the monstrous masks from film Beetlejuice he had carefully carved into a pumpkin, and Vanessa Andreassa posted an Instagram-worthy Happy Halloween sign she had made.

We also enjoyed the 'Boo!' created by Anna Panfilova using the long exposure technique of light painting.

Becca Collacott, meanwhile, transformed herself into a gruesome ghoul with the help of makeup and a bit of digital magic to erase her mouth.

Other costume captures we loved included Shez Honour's snap of someone dressed in the style of a skeleton seen during the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos, and a young witch peaking around a tree by Shumaila Qazi.

Anthony Morris shared a collection of figures in frightening fancy dress from Eynsham Carnival but our favourite was a green witch complete with hooked nose.

Slightly less scary was Angie Cox's snap of her dog dressed as a pumpkin, complete with a tiny hat in the shape of the stalk.

By contrast, the most haunting image we saw this week was a photograph by Liza Widdowson.

Her close-up black and white shot of a doll blankly staring is sure to feature in our nightmares.

Next week’s theme, and you may be sensing a pattern here, is ‘Bonfire Night’.
