THE CHILDREN at St Edburg’s Primary School in Bicester has a special guest this month in author Nick Butterworth.

Not only were pupils treated to the tales and talents of Mr Butterworth but the children in reception were also able to meet their namesake being in Butterworth Class.

It was smiles all round as the schoolchildren go to meet and speak with the children’s book author and illustrator.

Headteacher Margaret Kunzer said: “At the school each of the classes are named after famous authors and Victoria Sayer (Butterworth Class teacher) invited Mr Butterworth to come and talk to the children and share some of his stories with them.

“He led workshops for all children across the school and signed books at the end of the day, writing a personal message for each child.

“In the evening, parents were invited to attend a workshop about the value of sharing stories with their children and many parents described this as inspirational and thought-provoking.

“Nick Butterworth’s visit created an enthusiasm and learning buzz which will undoubtedly inspire the children throughout the year.

“His passion for story-telling and his love of language was contagious, and teachers at the school described his visit as a ‘privilege’.
