A DELEGATION from China’s Anhui Province, including top government officials and leaders in business, is arriving in Oxford to promote travel and tourism to their home province.

Members of the delegation, led by Vice Governor of Anhui Province Mr Yang Guangrong, will host an event on Thursday to attract local travel and tour operators along with local businesses.

The event will be an opportunity for the delegation to demonstrate Chinese culture, with a performance from a member of the legendary Huangmei Opera and a Tea-Art Performance.

The group also wants to showcase Anhui’s value as a Chinese tourism destination outside the usual tourist centres of Beijing and Shanghai.

Joanna Lavan, from Connect China, a consultancy working with the delegation to promote Anhui Province in the UK, said: “Anhui is a beautiful Province that has a lot to offer in terms of Chinese culture and heritage. I am excited to bring together the leaders of Anhui Province and local businesses to facilitate the promotion of this area in Oxford.”

Anhui Province boasts breath-taking mountain landscapes and historical sites with UNESCO world heritage status and is an ideal location for those wishing to experience traditional Chinese culture.

Whilst the delegation plans to promote travel and tourism, they also welcome those looking to create business links between Oxford and China in other industries. The event will be held at Talbot Hall at Lady Margaret Hall, from 10am to 11.30am. To register visit eventbrite.co.uk/e/lets-meet-beautiful-anhui-tickets-51135718310
