A GIANT Donald Trump puppet is just one of 80 prizes up for grabs at the Oxford Playhouse 80th anniversary auction.

The theatre has lined up a prize for every year the Oxford Playhouse has been entertaining the masses since opening in 1938, and the bizarre four-metre tall puppet of the US President is among the lots.

This year marks its 80th anniversary and celebrations include a host of star-studded events and performances in the city to help raise £120,000 in one year.

Among those is the theatre’s very first online auction offering up a host of some 80 prizes - including private tours, portraits painted and parties.

Oxford Playhouse development director Paddy Chatterton said: “The online auction is such an exciting part of our 80th anniversary celebrations.

“Local businesses and our audience members have pulled out all the stops over the last few months to donate the most amazing range of unique experiences and prizes for the auction.

“We now have an impressive 80 lots starting from £10 - something for everyone whether you are interested in a relaxing massage, a luxurious holiday or a private tour of hidden Oxford.”

The treasure trove of anniversary lots include everything from having a portrait taken by ‘photographer to the stars’ Andrew Ogilvy to becoming the rightful owner of a four metre tall Donald Trump puppet from last year’s Playhouse pantomime.

Other prizes include a day at Pinewood Studios with film producer Victor Glynn, a private Tour of Harwell Science and Technology Campus, box seats at the Royal Opera House, a portrait painted by Lucy Stopford, a private tour of Oxford Botanic Gardens and Carter Jonas will be selling a house or flat to someone commission free.

It has already been launched online and will run up to Friday, October 26.

All the money raised will go towards the Playhouse’s anniversary fundraising target.

The funds will go towards the theatre and its work to support emerging artists through development programme Evolve and boast the number of young people that it works with to 30,000 a year.

Mr Chatterton added: “Not only will people have the chance to win these experiences, but by bidding they will help us to welcome 150,000 people a year through the doors, work with thousands of young people, tour theatre to villages and estates in Oxfordshire and support the next generation of theatre stars.

"Not a bad way to spend time online.”

The venue is also hosting an 80th Anniversary gala on October 21 to salute the past 80 years of the Playhouse.

It says there will be award-winning performers from years gone by at the theatre including Jane Asher, Katy Brand and Rory Bremner.
