A FIRE engulfed the front of a car as it was travelling along the A41 near Bicester.
The driver was able to pull over to the roadside near junction 9 of the M40 and leave the vehicle before the fire really took hold.
Firefighters from two fire crews were able to contain the fire predominantly to the engine compartment and no-one was injured.
The front end of the car however was almost completely destroyed in the blaze.
It happened about 3pm on Wednesday.
A fire service investigation revealed the cause was accidental, caused by a mechanical fault.
