A DRIVER had to be cut free from their car after being involved in a crash with a lorry.

The crash happened shortly before 11.30pm on Wednesday on the A361 which runs through Chipping Norton.

Where firefighters got to the scene one person was trapped in the car with minor injuries.

The road was completely closed whilst crews used hydraulic equipment to remove the driver's door and release them from the wreckage.

Incident Commander crew manager David Cuthbert, from Chipping Norton Fire Station, said: "The wearing of seatbelts, prevented much more serious injuries.

"I would take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of always wearing your seatbelt as without it, even a relatively minor collision, could have serious consequences.

"Also, with the weather now starting to turn colder and the day’s getting shorter remember to check your tyres."
