TWO Oxfordshire pubs are the latest to receive praise in a national survey.

The Magdalen Arms in Iffley Road, East Oxford, and The King’s Head in Bledington, near Kingham in West Oxfordshire, have been included in The Times best places to eat list top 100. The list has been compiled by food critic Giles Coren and his colleague Marina O’Loughlin.

Referring to The Magdalen Arms, Mr Coren said: “Best restaurant in Oxford by a country mile.

“Sunday lunch of roasted Hereford sirloin, served in a giant Yorkshire with proper crunchy roast potatoes, carrots and cauliflower cheese is the best roast you’ll find anywhere.

"Other giant one-pot dishes, ducks and stews are so generous and well-made you’ll want to cry.”

On Monday night the Magdalen Arms was once again awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide, given to pubs and restaurants offering 'exceptionally good food at moderate prices'.
