STAFF from property consultants Bidwells cycled from Oxford to Cambridge to raise funds for Maggie’s Oxford cancer charity.

More than 350 cyclists set off from Kidlington on the 100-mile route on Friday and visited Milton Keynes before arriving at their destination.

The annual Bidwells Golden Triangle Bike Ride raised about £21,000 for cancer support charity Maggie’s, which has a care centre in the grounds of the Churchill Hospital.

Visitors can get advice about cancer and how they and their families can get support to live with the disease.

The ride is in its third year and has quickly become a popular and permanent fixture in the property industry calendar.

More than 75 Bidwells staff took up the challenge this year from offices in Oxford, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

The rural route starts in Oxford, weaving in and out of villages and small towns, and has a halfway point near Milton Keynes in Woburn, where those who prefer a 50-mile route to Cambridge can start their journey. Representatives of Maggie’s greeted cyclists.

Patrick McMahon, Bidwells’ Senior Partner, who took part in the challenge, said: “A beautiful route, camaraderie along the way, and I’ve just handed over a sizeable sum of money to Maggie’s making tired legs and aching muscles worthwhile.”

Maggie’s offers free practical and emotional support to cancer patients.
