TWO men have escaped with a BMW after breaking in to a home in a rural village and stealing the car keys.

Thames Valley Police has released more details of the burglary which happened in Church Street, Kingham near Chipping Norton, on Wednesday, about 6am.

The force said two people broke in by smashing the glass of a back door with a stone.

Once inside, the pair stole a handbag which contained a mobile phone, cash and the keys to a grey BMW car parked on the driveway. The pair made off in the BMW.

The offenders are both described as white men, between 18 and 20-years-old. Both are approximately 5ft 10ins tall, of a slight build and clean shaven.

They were dressed in black jeans and black lightweight jackets.

The burglary was previously reported in the Oxford Mail after Thames Valley Police previously tweeted about the appeal for information and said the men were both wearing balaclavas. Today the force has said this is no longer believed to be the case.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Steven Bates, based at Witney police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information that could help with our investigation.

"If you have any CCTV cameras or dash-cam footage from this area then please do review it and let us know if you believe anything has been captured.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have been driving a small red car on Church Street at around 6.20 that morning."
