PARTING with a crisp £5 note I spot Sir Winston Churchill glancing up at me. It’s as if he’s asking if I’m sure I want to buy that extra glass of mulled wine but being in the grounds of the estate he was born in I’m sure he’d approve.

And it was £5 well spent. Yes, a tad pricey for a glass of mulled wine but it was almost spilling over the edge and was delicious. It certainly helped keep us warm as we made our way around the grounds for an unforgettable evening. You wind your way along the paths, around lakes, and are captivated by a host of treats on the way.

Oxford Mail:

One of our favourite stops was the scented Fire Garden which really does feel as if you’re in the middle of some kind of Pagan ritual. The centrepiece – an impressive tree topped with a bird sculpture – surrounded by dancing flames. It really is a sight to behold. Then it was on to more magical lights, cue the selfies, until we reached the landmark Cascades, bathed in coloured lights.

Oxford Mail:

Our final stop was the lakeside boathouse – or Santa Claus’ home for Christmas – and we were treated to a wave from Mr C himself as we headed for some hearty beef stew (and another glass of mulled wine!).

A fantastic festive treat for all to enjoy.
