RHYL classical music connoisseurs are in for a treat with a last minute appearance from the award winning Mishka Rushdie Momen.

The London born pianist will grace the Rhyl Music Club stage at the Town Hall on Wednesday, October 15.

Rushdie Momen has joined the club's 2019-20 International Concert Series as a replacement for fellow pianist Lara Melda.

Stephen Leeder, concert organiser, said: "Lara Melda is unable to come as she's broken her ankle and we are most fortunate in finding an equally talented pianist Mishka Rushdie Momen to take her place."

Perfectly poised to step in for one of this year's programme's darlings, in 2014 Mishka was unanimously voted the 1st Prize winner of the Dudley International Piano Competition and in the same year she won 2nd Prize at the Cologne International Piano Competition.

Mishka Rushdie Momen was born in London 1992, studied with Joan Havill and Imogen Cooper at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and also with Richard Goode and Sir Andras Schiff. She is currently studying at the Kronberg Academy as part of the Sir András Schiff Performance Programme for Young Pianists.

Her debut in Rhyl follows the released of her first commercial recording to critical acclaim in 2017, appearing as one of the soloists in Mozart’s Triple Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and released her first solo recording, Variations, in September.

Mishka has given solo recitals at the Barbican Hall, the Bridgewater Hall, and other major venues across the UK and abroad. This season also includes debut performances at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, at the Haydn Festival in Austria.

Rushdie Momen's programme will feature recitals of Clara Schumann's Variations op. 20, Chopin's Ballade no. 2 in F major, Nico Muhly's Small Variations, Robert Schumann's Ten Impromptus on a theme by Clara Wieck op. 5, Janacek's Sonata I.X.1905 and Schubert's Fantasie in C Major D. 760 'Wanderer Fantasy'.

To welcome Rushdie Momen to Rhyl, head to the Town Hall on Wednesday, October 15 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15, available from rhylmusic.com.
