PUPILS at Christ Church Cathedral School are to perform a concert to raise funds for their own organ.

At present, organ students at the Oxford school must book a slot to practise on the difficult-to-play cathedral organ.

The concert will see choristers, parents, teachers, students and lecturers perform an evening of chamber music to the public.

Chorister Nicholas Platt, 11, a pupil at the school, said: “The only the time you can play the organ is when you have a lesson or when someone takes you over to the cathedral. If we had a chamber organ at school we could practise in our free time.”

Christ Church choristers, parents, teachers, students and lecturers will team up for concert on Friday, April 24 at 8pm in the cathedral.

International virtuoso pianist Maki Sekiya, a piano teacher at the school is due to perform.

Tickets are £8 from 01865 242561, or on the door.
